I'm in the cut, 3rd and alvarado...in the Holiday Motel, a crack distribution spot-slash-recording studio...a big dreadlocked cat runs the boards, pausing every once in a while to light a cigarette or serve a vial. at that point (03) I drank, so I'm swiggin a 40 of Mickeys, smoking bowls of macArthur park chronic...I had just met the dreadlocked cat (LukeCage) a couple days before, out in front of the donut shop on 3rd, where I was sitting out front with some neighborhood n'er-do-wells, swiggin a 40 of Mickeys, smoking a blunt and MCing over Pittsburgh's beatboxing and my own beat snaps on whatever was handy. Cage is suffeciently impressed, leads to the session a few days hence...we record for several years, one track every 6 months or so, and the result is dope enough that a label I had previously done two compilation tracks for (Rotation Music /Universal Music Group) wants to put it out. cool. I smoke a huge bowl of purple ganj in the parking lot of, then walk inside, the Cask and Cleaver steakhouse in Corona, Ca. in 2006 to sign the contract. CDLP drops 13 march 2007, entitled CONDITIONS AND SHIFTS. Three years later in 09, I write and record, in essentially one go, a new 7-tk EP entitled SOMETHING IN LOS ANGELES IS ALWAYS BURNING. Two songs on the record ("White Light District" and "Policy Division") were recorded live in session with Jon Hershfield during an IsGoodRadio Broadcast in May 09, which can be heard by using the link under the "Interview" section at left. 'Something...' EP is being readied for release by my own imprint, and the first song to be taken from it ("sixes and sevens") is available now on iTunes. A non-Lp single, being streamed on this site, called "Together" is being released next. The song does not feature on the new EP, but will be available on iTunes as a maxi single. Also recently formed collabo side project with e-solo of Meanest Man Contest...we are called Two States, and the thinky indie rap we're putting together is gonna tickle yer pickle in a major way. Most of my output is over beats, but I play guitar and snap a beat and rap at the same time during live shows. I am an old drum machine in the woods; I am Troy Von Balthazar; I am everything sweet and great and good; I am ISGOODMUSIC like a motherfucker.
